In one of his prayers the prophet Jeremiah acknowledged: “Nothing is too hard for you” (Jer 32:17). That is so true! The Creator of the Universe is Almighty. Anything we could ask of him would be as the saying goes, “a piece of cake”!
As I pondered the awesomeness of this wonderful, great God I serve, I thought of something that is impossible for him, and I started humming this part of a song: “God can do anything but fail.” Then I began to think about some impossible situations and some unanswered questions. But immediately I had to recognize that my Maker knows best and I was reminded of what the prophet Isaiah wrote thousands of years ago:
“Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘He has no hands’? … “This is what the LORD says — the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands? It is I who made the earth and created mankind upon it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts” (Isa 45:9-12).
From time to time it’s good to reminisce, to walk down Memory Lane and take a hard look at all the impossible situations that by the grace of God turned to “possible.” Talking about what God can’t do, here are some things that come to mind:
God can’t lie
God can’t go back on a promise
God can’t remember the sins he has forgiven us
God can’t fail
God can’t forget us
On the other side of the spectrum, here are some things I’m thankful that GOD CAN do:
God can, and he does…
hide me in the shadow of his wings
keep me as the apple of his eye
comfort me when I’m lonely
heal the hurts no one understands
forgive me time and again
fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit
make me a new creation in Christ Jesus
finish the work he has started in me
bring peace in the midst of chaos
sanctify me through and through
do for me more than I can even think or imagine
overwhelm me with his joy
multiply the strength I don’t have
Now I’m humming on another song: “It is no secret what God can do. / What he’s done for others he’ll do for you. / With arms wide open he’ll pardon you. / It is no secret what God can do.”
Why not make a list of your own? Mine could go on for miles and miles because the greatness and love of the Father has no end. The more we meditate on his unfailing love and mercy the more we realize how much he has done for us and how much he DOES, every day.
Rejoice today in the fact that GOD CAN DO ANYTHING BUT FAIL!

Kerstn,
