ABC’s for a Better Life

In my daily reading this morning I came to this instruction for a better life:

“Let us consider how we may spur one another
on toward love and good deeds…”
(Hebrews 10:24).

I had previously come across a long list of “instructions” for living, and since I’m addicted to ABC’s, it just seemed natural to make an ABC list for a better life.

Two times in the Book of Hebrews we are admonished to “encourage one another” (3:13; 10:25), so I hope these words will encourage you.

A lways accept an outstretched hand.
B e available for people who need you.
C ompliment someone every day.
D on’t expect life to be fair, but know that God is good.
E nrich others by your positive and enthusiastic attitude.
F orgive yourself and others.
G ive generously to worthy causes, especially for “missions.”
H ave a firm handshake.
I nasmuch as it depends on you, live in peace with everyone.
J esus should be all in all in your life.
K eep secretes and keep your promises.
L eave everything a little better than you found it.
M ake new friends but cherish the old ones.
N ever waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.
O vertip, especially a busy waitress.
P ray about everything.
Q uickly recognize, “I made a mistake!”
R eturn things you borrow, and in good condition.
S trive for excellence, not perfection.
T reat everyone you meet like you would like to be treated.
U nderstand where others are coming from.
V oice your opinions, but respect what others have to say.
W atch what goes in your mouth, but even more what comes out of it!
‘X cell in doing good!
Y ield to God and make him FIRST in everything.
Z oom in on the little pleasures of life.

About kelund

My name is Kerstin Anderas-Lundquist. I was born in Sweden to Per & Brita Anderas, on March 6, 1946. In 1948 we left to begin a missionary life in Chile; in 1956 we moved on to Peru. On May 1, 1969 I married an all-Swedish guy from Karslkrona: Bengt Göran Emanuel Lundquist. God blessed us with two daughters: Eva-Marie Elizabeth and Ruth Carina. We served as missionaries in Peru and Bolivia. In 1988 we moved to the United States to work at Life Publishers in Miami, Florida. I was to assist in developing the line of Sunday School Curriculm in Spanish known as Vida Nueva. I live in Springfield, Missouri, and am retired from work at the Assemblies of God Headquarters. My husband and daughter Eva-Marie have been promoted to Heaven. Carina is married to Thom Cole and they have given me four gourgeous grandchildren, even five (teen-age John). I will be writing about my life, past and present, blended with visions for the future. My deepest desire is to spread the “seed of love”–inspiration to serve God and our neighbors with love and compassion.
