God’s Perfect Gift

This is the season when we celebrate Jesus, God’s Perfect Gift, even though because of all the commercialism it doesn’t seem so. One beautiful thing is the generosity shown by many people in helping needy children and families.

Yesterday this gorgeous centerpiece was sitting in the office of one of the executives at the Assemblies of God Headquarters. Today it is sitting on my living room table.

How did that happen?

Every year the Leadership Team invites the employees, active and retired, for a visit, and yesterday afternoon was the date. I went and did the rounds, from the superintendent to the assistant superintendent to the secretary to the treasurer. It was in his office that I took a picture of the centerpiece. “Do you like it?” he asked. Sure I liked it! Then he offered it to me and said I could pick it up at closing time. I told him it was difficult for me to walk up to his office again. He delivered it to me at the reception desk!

I took it as a “picker-upper” from God himself. One of the many widows in his great big world was missing her better half. So he sent her a Christmas arrangement to brighten up her living space! And what he did for me, he will do for you!

Do you need some extra cheer? Wait and see what the Lord will do! He also sent me some Swedish chocolate (from IKEA). God doesn’t have “Santas” at work, but he has willing servants to do errands for him. And more than waiting for someone to cheer us up, let’s see to whom we can give a little cheer.

I sent the last of my Christmas cards that are going by snail mail. I have just as many or even more that I’m going to send by email. While going through last year’s cards, I found this message in one of them:

This Christmas, as you consider all the awesome things
that have come to you through Jesus, God’s perfect gift,
remember that it is but a taste of all the good things
that are yet to come.

I thank God for the generous people who brighten my days. I hope I can be as generous and brighten life some someone else. How about you?

Thanks be to God for his Perfect Gift: Jesus!

About kelund

My name is Kerstin Anderas-Lundquist. I was born in Sweden to Per & Brita Anderas, on March 6, 1946. In 1948 we left to begin a missionary life in Chile; in 1956 we moved on to Peru. On May 1, 1969 I married an all-Swedish guy from Karslkrona: Bengt Göran Emanuel Lundquist. God blessed us with two daughters: Eva-Marie Elizabeth and Ruth Carina. We served as missionaries in Peru and Bolivia. In 1988 we moved to the United States to work at Life Publishers in Miami, Florida. I was to assist in developing the line of Sunday School Curriculm in Spanish known as Vida Nueva. I live in Springfield, Missouri, and am retired from work at the Assemblies of God Headquarters. My husband and daughter Eva-Marie have been promoted to Heaven. Carina is married to Thom Cole and they have given me four gourgeous grandchildren, even five (teen-age John). I will be writing about my life, past and present, blended with visions for the future. My deepest desire is to spread the “seed of love”–inspiration to serve God and our neighbors with love and compassion.
