Returning Two Thousand

I have felt like a deflated balloon all day; not really all day but since I got the mail. I received an invoice for $2ooo for some tests I had done to check if my heart was working fine. It’s supposed to be fine but after such a bill it could start malfunctioning.

But this is not what I want to write about now. God in his great mercy saw my “deflated” state and sent me an encouraging call from Peru. One of my former Sunday school boys gave me a testimony of honesty and integrity, as honest as it gets.

To protect his privacy I’m not going to get into details. What it boils down to is that he returned $2000 in a transaction of selling his apartment. All the papers had been drawn up, signed, and notarized. I don’t understand exactly the procedures but the bottom line is that when he came home and counted the money he realized he had been given $2000 more than what he should have had.

That was a temptation because, had he not said anything to anybody, probably no one would have asked him for that money. But my friend had a check in his spirit. His great desire is to serve God, and the Lord is using him to testify of God’s grace, to pray for the sick, to counsel. He wanted to be in good standing with the Lord.

When it came time to hand over the keys to the new owner, he also handed him back the $2000. Guess who was surprised and amazed? The new owner could not believe his eyes!

What I think is most beautiful about this whole story is that my friend’s little daughter was present and saw a “live” object lesson of integrity.

My friend’s theme is Job 23:10.

But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

His little girl recited the verse to me over the phone.

I’m so proud of my “boy.” I’m so happy that I had a part in leading him to Jesus. Now he and his girls will be praying for me and my deflating bill of $2000. The Lord will make a way.

I want to follow the same words of encouragement that my “boy” follows—to do what is right—, and I hope that when I am tested, I will come forth as gold!

About kelund

My name is Kerstin Anderas-Lundquist. I was born in Sweden to Per & Brita Anderas, on March 6, 1946. In 1948 we left to begin a missionary life in Chile; in 1956 we moved on to Peru. On May 1, 1969 I married an all-Swedish guy from Karslkrona: Bengt Göran Emanuel Lundquist. God blessed us with two daughters: Eva-Marie Elizabeth and Ruth Carina. We served as missionaries in Peru and Bolivia. In 1988 we moved to the United States to work at Life Publishers in Miami, Florida. I was to assist in developing the line of Sunday School Curriculm in Spanish known as Vida Nueva. I live in Springfield, Missouri, and am retired from work at the Assemblies of God Headquarters. My husband and daughter Eva-Marie have been promoted to Heaven. Carina is married to Thom Cole and they have given me four gourgeous grandchildren, even five (teen-age John). I will be writing about my life, past and present, blended with visions for the future. My deepest desire is to spread the “seed of love”–inspiration to serve God and our neighbors with love and compassion.
