While praying this morning for my loved ones, especially those that don’t know the Lord, this reality hit me very hard: we are made for eternity. I have been repeating it over and over, and I want to share it here. It is such a sobering truth. This life is just a pass-way to eternity. There are only two places to spend it. It’s either Heaven or Hell!
So if somebody is not on the way to Heaven… there is no place in between. I just want to cry thinking of people who will spend eternity away from God, our Maker!
Read these passages from Scripture and let the Holy Spirit minister to you.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[ no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.
I hope you can identify with the apostle Paul’s words to the church in Rome:
If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
We are made for eternity!
