It’s Valentine’s Day! In Spanish they call it the Love and Friendship Day. True to my “Spanish” heritage (although I’m Swedish) I was thinking this morning about friends I’ve had over the years, and how friends come and go.
I made a list in my Prayer Journal and offered a prayer for each one, most of them far away. Then I started thinking about my Best Friend, about how awesome it must have been to walk with him, all those 2000 years ago. I thought of Mary Magdalene. How she must have loved Jesus! I though of Susanna, Joanna, the other Mary’s, Martha… the list goes on. LOVE walked among them! God is love, so walking with the Son of God is walking with Love!
Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3 and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means. Luke 8:1-3 ESV
I picture myself with Jesus, strolling down the shores of Galilee, walking on the dusty roads of Judea, visiting the Temple in Jerusalem. Mary, Susanna, Joanna, and many others provided for Jesus “out of their means.” What a privilege!
I can only picture myself with the “flesh and blood” Jesus. I can only walk with him in my imagination. But I have Jesus with me every minute of the day. He lives with me and in me. My life is his. My house is his. My time is his. Everything is dedicated to him. He’s my Savior. He deserves everything!
How I wish I could be with him in person.
- Enoch of old walked with God.
- Abraham was God’s friend.
- The disciples were Jesus’ friends.
- David was a man after God’s own heart.
- Noah pleased the Lord.
- Moses talked to God face to face.
- John had visions of Jesus.
LOVE walked among them.
James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon grew up with Jesus. He was their big brother! Jesus also had sisters. Mary and Joseph parented the Son of God. Awesome thought!
Today, when the world celebrates love, you can have the Author of Love with you and in you. Yes, Jesus walked among them 2000 years ago. But if you accept the Creator and Savior as your personal Savior, your Lord and Master, LOVE will walk with you!
Just a thought, wishing you a blessed and lovely day!
