A Bold Confession of Faith

Reading a booklet by the late Charles Capps I was reminded that there is great power in the spoken word. Look up his name online to find a long list of his books. I’m not talking about any kind of words, but positive words of faith.

I was inspired to write a confession of faith, to express my beliefs for a powerful and vibrant life. A few years ago I read a testimony about the Reverend Lewi Pethrus, founder of the Swedish Pentecostal Church. The last twenty years of his life were the most vibrant. That’s what I want! I’m on the last leg of my journey and I want it to be astounding.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO SPEAK THE CONFESSION. The importance of speaking the Confession is not for God and his angels to hear it. God reads your thoughts! You want the enemy of your soul to hear your bold proclamation. And it’s important for yourself to hear it! Every day!

I’m sharing this confession, built on scripture references. I suggest you give it your own personal touch. This Confession, read out loud every day, will strengthen your faith and bring joy to your heart. It will embolden you!

A Confession of Faith

I AM A CHILD OF GOD, fearfully and wonderfully made, chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before Him.

I AM ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN LOVE, to be filled to the measure with the fullness of God. Day by day I will build myself up in love, growing in every way to be like Jesus.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS MY COUNSELOR, the source of power in my life. He guides me into all truth. I have been marked in Him with a seal, a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance.

I DWELL IN THE SHELTER OF GOD. The Lord is my refuge and my strength. He is my deliverer. I do not fear. No evil or harm will befall me, no disaster come near my home. He will command his angels to guard me in all my ways.

I WILL FLOURISH LIKE A PALM TREE. I will still bear fruit in old age, I will stay fresh and green. My latter days will be the most victorious. I will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done in my life.

I AM THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL. I have authority in Christ to cast out demons, to speak in other tongues, to lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. Serpents or poison will not harm me.

THE WEAPONS OF MY WARFARE ARE NOT OF FLESH but of divine power to destroy strongholds. I destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God. No weapon formed against me will prosper.

I PUT ON THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD and stand firm against the devil’s schemes. I have the belt of truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place. My feet are fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. I take up the shield of faith, to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. I put on the helmet of salvation and hold firmly on to the sword of the Spirit, the word of God.

I PRAY IN THE SPIRIT ON ALL OCCASIONS, with all kinds of prayers and requests. I am not anxious about anything, but I pray about everything. With thanksgiving I present my requests to God. I pray in tongues–what a privilege!

I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST. Jesus was pierced for my transgressions, he was crushed for my iniquities, upon him was the chastisement that brought me peace, and with his wounds I am healed.

I AM BLESSED IN CHRIST WITH EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES.

• My eyes are blessed with 20/20 vision.
• My feet are blessed to walk in God’s ways with no pain.
• My hands are blessed for every good deed.
• All my organs are blessed to be strong and healthy.
• My entire being is blessed to be vigorous and vibrant.
• My body, my soul and my spirit are blessed to be renewed like the eagles.

I PRESENT MY BODY AS A LIVING SACRIFICE TO GOD to be my spiritual worship. I will not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of my mind. As a temple of the Holy Spirit, I want to discern and do the acceptable and perfect will of God.

I WILL BE CONTENT IN WHATEVER SITUATION I AM IN. Be it need or abundance; sickness or health; sadness or happiness; friendships or loneliness. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

I WILL BE MINDFUL OF MY MOUTH. Considering that on the day of judgment I will give account for every careless word I speak, I will weight carefully what I say. By my words I will be justified, and by my words I will be condemned. Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!

THERE IS POWER IN THE SPOKEN WORD.

• I will speak deliverance over my circumstances.
• I will speak victory and not defeat.
• I will speak the result, not the problem.
• I will speak the truth in love.
• I will speak words of joy, peace and comfort.
• I will speak only what honors Jesus.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in God’s sight.

I TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE TO OBEY CHRIST. I will think on…

• Whatever is TRUE.
• Whatever is HONORABLE.
• Whatever is JUST.
• Whatever is PURE.
• Whatever is LOVELY.
• Whatever is ADMIRABLE.
• Whatever is EXCELLENT.
• Whatever is WORTHY OF PRAISE.
• Whatever HONORS JESUS.

LOVE IS MY STANDARD. My Father is Love. I will imitate Him in all I do. My love will be genuine. I will outdo others in showing honor.

I WILL BE KIND, TENDERHEARTED AND FORGIVING. I will be compassionate and patient. Whatever I do in word or deed, I will do in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to God my Father.

I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS.

• I will thank God in all circumstances.
• I will not be anxious about anything.
• I will cast all my anxieties on Jesus.
• I will give no opportunity to the devil.
• I will be patient in tribulation.
• I will be constant in prayer.
• I will let the peace of God rule in my heart.
• I will fear no evil, because Jesus is my Shepherd.

I AWAIT WITH ANTICIPATION JESUS’ RETURN. He is preparing a place for me in Father’s House, and He will come back to take me to be with Him forever. That is my blessed hope!

WITH GOD’S HELP I WILL FULFILL THE GREAT COMMISSION. My heart’s deepest desire is to win souls for Jesus. I will continually pray for my loved one’s salvation.

I PROCLAIM MY UNDIVIDED FATIH IN THE ALMIGHTY GOD. Nothing is impossible for the Lord. Whatever is happening today in my life is in my Father’s care. I will trust and obey.

I CONSIDER MY LIFE WORTH NOTHING TO ME, if only I may finish the race and the task the Lord Jesus has given me. I will serve Jesus with a happy heart until my last breath.

SEARCH ME, O GOD, AND KNOW MY HEART!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
