Perfect Timing, Once Again

I want to give glory to God, and tell you my latest story of perfect timing. Perfect timing, once again! I’m overwhelmed and amazed at the Holy Spirit’s work in my life. It humbles me. I feel incredibly blessed. Here is the story!

Perfect timingThis weekend there is a gathering of pastors and leaders in Lima, Peru. The main speaker is Owe Lindeskär, the man I translated a book for this year. I was approached by one of the organizers. He thought it would be a blessing for the pastors if I could be there, but I had no money for the trip and my nephew is getting married next week, so that was not perfect timing.

My missionary friends Anita and Carlos Olson are going to be there so I wondered if Anita could do some promotion for my web ministry. We emailed back and forth. She offered to print leaflets if I sent her the text. Then I thought about Cristina… why not have her make and deliver some cards?

Lima is a big metropolitan area with a population of ten million. Cristina lives in one end… my friends were staying in the opposite direction. The traffic in unbelievable… you have to be there to really understand it. There is public transportation, but it takes hours to get from one point to another.

I had been told that the conference starts Friday night (that is tonight) but not that it was in a place several hours from Lima and that everybody was departing today at 9:00 AM. Last evening, as I was meditating on this issue, feeling somewhat nostalgic… I just realized it was 60 years since we as a family arrived in Lima as the first Swedish missionaries.

My plan was to have Cristina work on the promotional cards today and deliver them this evening or tomorrow. The thought came, Why not call Cristina and tell her she would be working on this all Friday?

Here is where PERFECT TIMING kicked in… full gear! Cristina was in downtown Lima, ready to take transportation home. She then stayed to go find card-stock to print on. But she had no money! Her sister lent her a card so she could take some money out from the bank. It was now past eight in the evening so some establishments were closed. But she found what she needed!

I had written Cristina’s cell phone number in my latest email to Anita. She called Cristina and gave her the “news” that everyone was leaving in the morning. “I guess I will have to stay up all night,” Cristina said. And that is what she did!

When Cristina arrived back at her place she called me about the cards. We worked on the style. I told her to just make it simple so she could get it done quickly, but… no! That girl wants things well done. And so does her Mrs. Boss! That is one thing I appreciate very much. Anita also wanted bookmarks, which we had worked on previously. So there was a lot of work to do.

With Skype to communicate with and Dropbox to send thing back and forth you can work continents apart… This time it was from North to South. I did my “almost usual thing” and fell asleep at the computer. At 3:00 AM I woke up, or maybe it was Cristina that called me. But there she was! Working away!

Cristina doesn’t have a paper-cutter so she cut all the cards and book marks by hand, using a ruler and an x-actor knife (I think that’s what they are called). I went to bed, so I don’t know for how long she worked. I do know that when I called her at 8:00 AM she was on her way to deliver the cards!

Are you curious about what kept her awake all night? See here!

The cardsHopefully, now the pastors will have information about where they can get teaching materials. Let me tell you something, what is printed on those little cards represents a lot of work. My dream is to put all these web sites under ONE umbrella. Help me pray that I very soon will find the right person to do it for me!

Had I not called, THE EXACT MOMENT when I called, this would not have happened. But I called! I love how the Holy Spirit works in our lives! I don’t usually call Cristina after-hours. But I did! Praise God!

In the afternoon my friend Malena came by to record a short video. That’s were Dropbox was a wonderful tool. I sent over the video, Cristina put it on a USB-port, and now the pastors will not only have a card but also a fresh greeting.

I have been celebrating my 50 years in the ministry… 50 years of miracles! With this I celebrate the 60 years since we arrived in Peru. Anita said there are going to be 60 pastors at the conference. One pastor for each year! Of course, lots of other people, too. But 60 pastors!

Praise God with me for this PERFECT TIMING event!
