The Way of Holiness

If you are a Christian you have a mandate from God, it is to walk in holiness.

I made a study last night about holiness. Let me give you some of the scriptures I read. Ponder them and let God’s Holy Spirit speak to your heart, as he has done to mine. What really got my attention is what Paul wrote to the church in Corinth:

“Dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that
contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness
out of reverence for God
(2 Corinthians 7:1).

“Out of reverence for God” really got my attention. If for no other reason, perfect holiness out of reverence for God. Read, and let the Lord minister to your heart.

Psalm 29:
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.

Exodus 22:31
You are to be my holy people.

Leviticus 20:26
You are to be holy to me because I, the LORD, am holy.

1 Peter 1:15-16
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

1 Thessalonians 4:7
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

Ephesians 4:24
Put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Hebrews 12:14
Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Philippians 1:27
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel

2 Peter 3:11-12
You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.

2 Peter 3:14-15
Make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.

These are some of the scriptures that can help us mediate on the Way of Holiness (Isaiah 35:8). Isaiah talks about being a crown of splendor, a royal diadem in the hand of God (62:3). Picture yourself in the hand of God. Would he hold something there that is not up to his standards? Let’s work on being holy, as he is holy.

WWJD

Since I was very young, even before the WWJD bracelets came out, I’ve asked myself, What Would Jesus Do? Sometimes I forget, but it is one of my goals to do what Jesus would do and honor God in words and deeds.

Let me finish with this prayer:

“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.
May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who
calls you is faithful and he will do it”
(1 Thessalonians 5:23-24).

  1. Howdy would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with? I’m
looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I’m looking
for something unique. P.S Apologies for getting off-topic
    but I had to ask!

  2. Have you ever thought about creating an ebook or guest authoring on other sites?
I have a blog based on the same subjects you discuss and would
love to have you share some stories/information.
I know my subscribers would appreciate your work. If you’re even remotely interested, feel free to shoot me an email.
